Julia Friend grew up in Brooklyn, NY surrounded by folk musicians who taught her to value a hands on approach to musicianship. She has always believed that the parts of life that help us flourish require and deserve maintenance and attention, and it is in this spirit that she returned to school to study instrument repair.
She graduated in 2011 from Renton Technical College's Band Instrument Repair program and traveled from Washington to Connecticut where she worked for 10 years at Tim Moran Woodwinds LLC. During her time there she gained experience making quality repairs on professional and student-level instruments.
In 2017, Julia volunteered with MusAid repairing and teaching woodwind repair in El Salvador. She is thrilled to set up shop in Brattleboro.
